Assistant Pastry Chef

Assistant pastry chefs are responsible for executing the menu created by the supervising pastry chef. Duties for assistants vary depending on the size and type of establishment. In addition to food prep work, common duties may include starting dishes based on existing recipes, organizing equipment, ensuring that all foods items are stocked and maintained, ensuring the freezers and coolers are organized and maintained, conducting monthly inventory and any other various duties assigned by the pastry chef or executive chef.
Assistant Pastry Chef will assist in all ordering, oversee creative menu planning and food preparation, supervise and train all culinary associates as well as maintain food and labour cost while maximizing guest’s satisfaction.
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and sanitized after every use and do month end inventory of all items in the pastry kitchen.
Maintain hygiene standards within guidelines that all food items are properly covered at all times and ensure proper stock rotation in all areas of the pastry kitchen while minimize wastage.
Be actively involved in developing new dessert items for all outlets and also responsible for recording all food spoilage on the proper form and submit to the Chef.
Able to execute and prepare a large volume of meals at one time and work under pressure.
Baking and Decoration
Assistant Pastry Chef supposed to experiment with different recipe ideas to come up with unique servings which can be liked by customer and assistant pastry chef also need to work upon projects which require a lot of additional attention to customized preparations.
Artistic ability is a must for an assistant pastry chef. Assistant Pastry chef must artistic enough to make the pastries look inviting and attractive and must understands how colours work well together as well as how to create those colours in icings, sauces, dough and fillings.
Candidate must possess at least a Professional Certificate, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Food & Beverage Services Management or equivalent.
Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English
At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
Preferably Senior Executives specializing in Food/Beverage/Restaurant Service or equivalent.
